The City of Blackfoot, located in eastern Idaho, is only 25 minutes from Idaho State University and within an easy drive of Yellowstone National Park. Blackfoot is the county seat of Bingham County and home of the Eastern Idaho State Fair.  Being an area rich in agriculture, it is also known as the ‘Potato Capital of the World.’

May I apply for a position at any time I wish?

The City of Blackfoot only accepts applications for open positions; that is, any position which has been advertised and for which we are actively recruiting.  A completed employment application is required for any open position.  You may attach a resume to your completed employment application; however, it will be reviewed for clarification purposes only.  General application or resumes are not accepted or kept on file unless a position is open.


How will I know what jobs I am qualified for, and when to apply?

Whenever a position becomes available, the City of Blackfoot’s Human Recourses Department will create an Employment Opportunity posting.  This posting will contain a job posting, statement of minimum education and experience requirements and will include a description of the qualifications required.  To be notified of new postings, click the ‘Notify Me’ button on the City of Blackfoot Career Opportunities page.


How do I file my application?

Applications are found for each individual job posting by clicking ‘Apply’ on the Career Opportunities page.

Applications need to be filled out completely, even if you attach a resume.  Do not state ‘see recume’ when asked to describe your responsibilities, experience and employment dates.  Your qualifications will be evaluated on the basis of information you provide on the application.  Your resume will be reviewed for clarification purposes only.

You MUST submit a completed ‘Veteran’s Preference’ form (even if you are not claiming a Veteran’s preference) as well as an ‘Authorization for Release of Personal Information’ form in order for your application to be considered complete.


If I’ve previously completed an application, will I automatically be considered for other positions?

No, you will not be automatically considered.  You may apply for future careers with the City of Blackfoot by logging into your account.  Your information should be saved, so you will only need to update any changes in your application to apply for future openings.


How long must I wait before I know whether my application has been accepted?

Please allow two to three weeks for your application to be reviewed.  Applicants selected for further consideration will be notified.
