City of Blackfoot Press Release-January 10, 2017, 4:30 pm
The City of Blackfoot has released a "Snow Removal Proclamation" in an effort to allow the City Public Works Department to clear the streets of excessive snow accumulation.
The City noted that due to a forecast of clear skies during the week of January 15th, which will allow city crews full access to the streets, that on January 17th, street parking would not be allowed between the hours of 8:00 am and 5:00 pm for all city streets EAST of the railroad mainline. On the 18th, all parking on the WEST side of the railroad tracks would be prohibited between these same hours.
This proclamation EXCLUDES the established downtown area. The downtown is described as those areas between West Main Street on the east and Oak Street on the west; Alice Street on the North and Sexton Street on the South; Pacific Street west from Oak Street to Bridge Street; Bridge Street and Judicial Street west from Oak Street to Meridian Street (Ord. 2150, 12-6-2016).
During these two days only, residents will be allowed to park in the alleys. In clearing the streets snow will at times be placed on the sidewalk and the city is suspending the clearing of sidewalks until conditions improve.
All vehicles, including trailers, recreational equipment, and other obstructions must be off the streets during these times. Vehicles will be towed at the owners expense if found on the streets.
We are encouraging our residents to assist their neighbors where needed to assure all of our streets are clear during these prescribed times. If you have questions or need additional clarification, please call Richard Mangum, City Public Works Director at 785-8600 Ext. 18. We appreciate your help in assisting us in clearing the snow accumulation from our streets.
