The Idaho Transportation Department will resume work in early April on the repair and maintenance of Interstate 15 in eastern Idaho. This multi-year endeavor began in 2017. The 2018 construction season will involve numerous bridge improvements, new pavement and guardrail in several locations between the Utah and Montana borders.

The 2018 projects are expected to include:

  • Ballast Reconstruction: Reconstructing pavement on 1-15 between Dubois and Spencer.
  • Rose Road Interchange: Replacing and improving Exit 98 north of Blackfoot.
  • Sand Road to South Blackfoot: Resurfacing the northbound lanes of 1-15 and improving bridge clearance.
  • Inkom Bridges: Maintaining bridges on southbound 1-15 in Inkom.
  • McCammon to Inkom: Resurfacing nine miles of pavement on 1-15.
  • Arimo to McCammon Bridges: Maintaining five bridges on 1-15.

ITD is encouraging motorists again to slow down, pay attention and plan extra time when traveling through the various work zones this summer. In general, motorists can expect that:

  • Interstate 15 will be reduced to one lane in both directions in most work zones.
  • Occasional interchange ramp closures and speed-limit changes will also be necessary.
  • Traffic patterns may change frequently and motorists may encounter longer travel times.
