The City of Blackfoot Water Department supplies safe, clean drinking water to a population of 11,922 through 3765 service connections. The water distribution system has approximately 100 miles of pipe, 600 fire hydrants, 9 wells, a 2.2 million gallon reservoir and 4 booster pumps. Maintenance and operations are handled by 7 full time employees.

The Idaho Department of Environmental Quality (DEQ), is responsible for ensuring  the water system operates within the Federal Safe Drinking Water Act and the Idaho Rules for Public Drinking Water Systems (IDAPA 58.01.08).

The Blackfoot Water Department is a member of the American Water Works Association, Inter-mountain Subsection, and a support member of the Idaho Rural Water Association.
