Blackfoot Planning & Zoning Commission:
Planning Survey for future Comprehensive Plan of Blackfoot, Idaho
The Blackfoot Mayor and Planning & Zoning Commission (P&Z) announce a community survey for everyone in and around the City of Blackfoot. The survey is to be completed by July 31st, 2022. The purpose of the survey is to objectively measure City residents’ attitudes and perceptions of life in Blackfoot and as well as their thoughts toward the City’s priorities for the future. P&Z has, and will spend a lot of time updating the Comprehensive Plan. The P&Z indicated that the survey results would help guide priorities as we develop over the next many years. The City Comprehensive Plan by state & city code is required to be updated at least every 5 – 10 years. This survey will help direct this update to that plan. The survey, which will help gauge residents’ attitudes toward city services, priorities, needs, over all development in and around the city and its impact area. It will also help in directing P&Z with how the city would like to grow and develop 10, 20 and 30+ years into the future. This will enable P&Z to help direct the growth to happen in a way that conforms to the wants and needs of its community. With this input from the citizens the city will be able to add or make changes to the Comprehensive Plan for the city of Blackfoot.
Mayor Marc Carroll said, “Citizen participation and responses to the survey will help guide city services, facilities, planning, code revisions come from or under the direction of the Comprehensive Plan and will serve as direction as to the future for the city of Blackfoot.” The Comprehensive plan will help to create goals and priorities to reflect the desires of the public in shaping the future for the city. “On behalf of the City and Planning & Zoning, I want to urge all residents (surrounding area residents) to take a few minutes from their day to complete the survey. Your input is important to us!” commented Mayor Carroll.
The Survey is being conducted and reported by outside group, not the city, so ALL responses will be kept confidential. The survey will be available at City Hall in paper form or online at the link below from now through July 31st. The results will be given to the city in graphic form keeping all responses private.
