The Army Corps of Engineers has offered a grant award to the City of Blackfoot in the amount of $1,866,000, minus the City's match of $466,666 and administrative costs. This would be used to partially fund the Phase II project at the Wastewater Treatment Plant, which includes the replacement of the current aeration system and the rehabilitation of the thermophilic digester. As construction costs continue to escalate, the City
is working with the Corps to obtain final approval of this critical additional funding.
The design for Phase II was paid for using Community Development Block Grant Funds, Army Corps Funds, and DEQ Loan Funds. The
total estimated construction costs for Phase II are $13,500,000 with a projected completion date of 2021.
