[ARCHIVED] City Reminds Citizens of Appropriate Garbage Disposal
The City of Blackfoot Parks Department recently noticed that individuals have been using garbage receptacles, located in City parks and sports venues, for disposal of household waste. Use of these receptacles, which are intended for patron of the parks and sports venues and not for disposal of waste that was not generated at those areas. To do so is a violation of City Code Chapter 9-5-6.G Theft of Collection Services
which reads as follows:
Theft Of Collection Services
It is a violation of this chapter for any person, except for the owner, occupant or invitee, to place or deposit any materials in or around a waste receptacle provided for the use of a specific business or premises, or in or around the can or container at a residence without permission from such owner or occupant.
It is a violation of this chapter for any person to place waste at a premises within the city limits that is not generated at the commercial, residential or multi-family premises.
